THE PRAYER FOR TODAY God of freedom you have broken the tyranny of sin and sent the Spirit of your Son into
our hearts; give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service that all people may know the glorious liberty of the
children of God; through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God now and for

souls of Linda Barber, Ted Newland, Win Lambden, Thyra Chester and Rosemary Mayne whose years mind occurs
this week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ben Luks who turned 21 yesterday, Amalia Hale & Jane Sweet for the 18th, Wayne Parham for
the 21st. Margaret Carruthers for the 23rd and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Sue & Wayne Parham for the 20th.
THE MAGDALENE CENTRE is in desperate need of blankets, sleeping bags, doonas, etc, to provide some winter
warmth to those sleeping rough this winter. Kate and Allan Jennings would be happy to pick up any donations that you

A SERIES OF DISCUSSION ON THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY’S BOOK
“TOKENS OF TRUST”
Rowan Williams was voted best theologian for 2007 in a recent internet survey. Tokens of Trust is his latest
book and is an introduction to Christianity. We will be reading and discussing one chapter each week. You
may attend as many sessions as you like as each chapter can stand alone as a point of discussion.
Copies can be purchased at the office for $25 or “hired” for $8 for the duration of the course. Each week
there will be 2 opportunities to come and discuss the chapter, on Mondays at 10am and Thursdays at
7.30pm at the Church.

Chapter 3: A Man for All Seasons, Monday 25 and Thursday 28 August

Bring a picnic rug and a plate to share for lunch and watch Joseph. King of Dreams. This DVD is an
animated version of the Joseph story, which we are reading on Sundays at the moment. Lunch will
be from 11:45PM followed by the movie. (The movie runs for a little more than an hour.)
